DON’T BE FLUMMOXED: DEPART FROM INIQUITIES!

(TEXT : 2 Timothy 2:19)
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

FOCUS :

Many at times we forget who we are in Christ, and instead of maintaining our standard in Christ we fall for the perishable things of this world. The truth of the matter is that, you might not know God that so well, but He knew you even before your arrival in this world and He also knew all your intentions from the beginning of your life till the very end of your life. God is not a “magician” but He can always see through your heart, soul and mind; to know your intentions, motives, determinations, decisions, and actions.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

Isaiah 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

In addition, sometimes we believe we are smarter than God. However, God is always faithful to keep restoring us back to Himself, irrespective how many time we have failed Him. You will remember the story of two men in the Bible: Balaam, the “prophet of God” and Balak the king of Moab? King Balak wants prophet Balaam to use his office (by influenced with money and prosperity), to curse the children of Israel. Using your position in the house of God, for wrong doing will always come with terrible consequences.

Numbers 22:28 And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?

Self-will of Balaam refused to be instructed by circumstances, but a will yielded to God is careful to observe them. Three times Balaam refused to learn from the animal on which he rode; and so blinded was he by the love of money that the dumb beast, speaking with man’s voice, fails to make him hesitate. No, this is not a fable! The Lord actually caused the animal to speak. If we deny such, then we deny God and His Word.

Finally, Numbers 22:29-30 And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee. And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day?was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay.

The astounding thing about this is that Balaam was so full of covetousness that the speaking of the animal didn’t seem to faze him. And now he answers the animal, once again brushing aside the phenomenon of what has taken place. Sin can have such a hold upon a person that they take all leave of their senses, in order to carry out their devious design. Balaam could have inform Balak that you can’t curse those who God has blessed and blessed those who God has cursed. Therefore, king Balak, with all due respect, no matter the amount you have promised to give me, I will never come, because I’m working for God not against God. But unfortunately, just like the covetousness of Balaam then, we are seeing the same today, even among those who are called the “ministers of God or shepherd”: eating the blessings of God on His Pulpit and even eating the Pulpit with it. The judgement of God and the wrath of God is coming; be warned.
