For our God is a consuming fire.
FOCUS :
Fires in the Bible comes with different meanings. Sometimes it is judgement, something it is purification, somethings it is Holy, and while sometimes the invisible sign of God’s presence. At the burning bush, fire is connected to the Holy ground, at Sinai surround the mountain, and at the pentecost it is something like tongue of fire appears to all the disciples at a time. The God that we serve interact and reveal Himself to us in different ways, forms and shapes. If you want Him to surround you with His fire as a form of “protection” He will, while He consumed all your enemies without anyone of them remain standing. And if you want to be judged by His fire, just be ready to be the one to be consumed by His fire.
In addition, God has made Himself so friendly with us, and He has well build firm relationship with us through our constant fellowship with Him. God can be good, kind, peaceful, loving, pleasant, and blessing His children on a daily basis; but the truth must be told, no wicked fellow will be permitted to go near any of the categories of the aforementioned fire. So yes, if you are found being wicked to your fellow brothers and sisters in the household of Faith, you will be consumed by God’s fire. No matter how smart or cleaver you might present yourself; so long you are a “wicked fellow;” the consuming fire will not spare you from been consumed.
Finally, God do not consumed His children: rather, He purifiers them or better way to put it He baptized them with fire and with Holy Ghost. But your walking with God will determine His attitude towards you eventually, whether or not you deserve to be identified with His fire. When God baptized you in the Holy Ghost that makes you a terror to your enemies, and when God purifies you with His fire; that makes you “separate for use for His Glory.”
Acts 1:7-8 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
