INCREASE OF WIDOW’S OIL (PART 3)!

(TEXT : 2 Kings 4:3)
Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.

FOCUS :

In the journey of life we are a “vessel” in God’s hands, in which Him alone can decide how or what He can use it or use us for. The next thing we want to learn about this widow is that, the man of God (Elisha) asked “Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours.” Please, take note of the word “vessels” in the instructions of Elisha. Because in my own opinion, vessels can be “people or substance.” For instance, Elisha to the widow and her two sons he was a vessel sent by God to clear the “debt.” And the widow woman sending her two sons out throughout the neighborhood to collect their vessels; you will agree with me that those who release their vessels and the vessels that they releases, they are both as equal as “vessels in God’s hands to meet the needs of another vessels of God.” So, variably we are all a vessels, but how we are been used or how we respond to the using will now determine what comes out of us.

2 Timothy 2:20-21 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

In addition, if you choose to be a “vessel unto honour” for instance, you are separated by God for His purpose to be used only. However, there are some people who are known as vessels unto dishonor, this point straight to the children of “the devil.” So, that brings me to the fact that, the kind of people you surround yourself with will show the kind of vessel you yourself you are either to God or to men. Yes, the widow was heavy in debt, and only God knows since when she has been carrying the burden of this debt; but it appears that she had never shared it with any vessels around her (her neighbors). But the day she cried out to the man of God for help, the same neighborhood became the vessels for her liberty.

Mark 10:47-52 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Finally, and of course, don’t let us forget that if this woman had not been a “good vessel” to all the vessels (people) around her; she wouldn’t have been so free to send her two sons out to borrow for her vessels firm a “strange neighbors.” That brings me to this very quick question: how is your relationship with your neighbors, fellow believers, coworkers, or business partners? Because I am very much sure that if this woman was never a “good fellow” in that her neighborhood, she would have probably have no vessels to pour her last oil into for multiplication; and possibly there won’t be anything even the man of God can do to be of help in her situation. Be a good neighbor, it won’t cause you anything!
