DON’T OPPRESS THE POOR!

(TEXT : Proverbs 22:22)
Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:

FOCUS :

The poor needs no further burden, but unfortunately, the poor are not always at the mercy of the rich people around them. Every poor are born just as every rich men are born. But God who designed our destiny, He has made all things beautiful in their season and in their time. If you are rich today, take care of the poor around you today, because the same poor might help you tomorrow. When you oppress the poor today, remember you might be stranded tomorrow and with all your riches; you might become useless even in the presence of God.

Luke 16:22-26 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

In addition, everything that God has made, in all they are good and bad; poor and rich; night and day etc.. however, all that God has made, they are all recorded as “VERY GOOD.” If God’s works are seen as “very good” and you are part of God’s works, you are expected to “always be good” towards others. Make it a point of duty to be kind to at least to one person in a day. The poor are not lability, they are also part of God’s works and the “very good” ones.

Genesis 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Finally, one day both “the good and the bad, the poor and the rich, the night and the day”; they will all appear before the Lord for judgement. Whatever you do today, that will be your judgement tomorrow which is on the last day. What will be your excuse on the last day when you are standing with the poor people you could have helped while you are here on earth and you didn’t? Unfortunately, there will be no opportunity for you to correct your wrongs before the throne of judgement. Do all you could now to help the poor and you can be rest assured that every single help you rendered for the poor; it’s the pathway for you into the Kingdom of God. I will see you in Heaven by His Grace!
