(TEXT : Deuteronomy 15:10)
Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.
FOCUS :
It is not a good idea to go against the commandment of God, particularly when it has to do with those who are poor and in needy. God told the children of Israel that, He had blessed them so that they can become a blessing to other. In other words, in the same manner, you are rich so that others who comes in contact with you won’t have to be disturbing God with their “poverty noice”; while they can just be well feed through the riches God has commanded on you the rich people. Logically, ask yourself this, what is the purpose of your riches here and there that you have accumulated over the years? And you are so selfish and greedy with it! Spiritually speaking, it will be a shame that your riches did actually comes from God to somebody like you.
Psalms 12:5
For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.
Psalms 41:1
Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
Psalms 72:4
He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.
God said to the children of Israel: Israel’s welfare program was the third year of tithing the produce of the entirety of the land, to be given to the poor and needy; along with the Levites. Not failing this and, as well, lending to those who were truly in need, one can readily see that the welfare program was generous. Despite the promises of God, regrettably some will not properly heed. God can take cares the poor and those who are needy all by Himself, and He can equally turn the table around and made you that is rich poor, so the poor can replace your position instead. However, it has pleases God, to have chosen you long before you are born, to be the rich and not the poor fellow. Meanwhile, what goes around, certainly do comes around. The rich can become poor and the fellow considered to be poor, can be seen taking the lead in wealth.
Deuteronomy 15:11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.
1 Samuel 2:7
The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.
1 Samuel 2:8
He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’S, and he hath set the world upon them.
Finally, it is very good to be RICH, because it will allow you to REACH some certain places that ordinarily speaking, you could never have imagine it is possible for you to REACH. But the truth is, you are not rich by mistake and you are not rich by accident; it is for a purpose, for a reason, for a season and it is within a “TIME FRAME.” You see, your riches it’s not only about your “physical money that you share among the poor or the needy”; it can as well be your connection, help, materials, advice, prayer, emotional support, or maybe a loaf of bread with tea, a cup of rice, a cup beans, a cup gari (casava pounder) with little cash etc.. by doing any of these aforementioned, you are fulfilling God’s commandment: because you are not neglecting the poor and the needy around you.
Proverbs 13:7
There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
Proverbs 14:20
The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.
Proverbs 14:21
He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.
