(TEXT : Jeremiah 6:16)
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
FOCUS :
“The old path and the old good way;” that is the Gospel as taught in the Bible. “Stand you in the ways,” refers to the ardent seeking of the Way of God. Unfortunately, many believers have gone out of the old path and the old ways which was the foundation of the Saints of the old. Instead of following “the path and the old ways;” we the believers of nowadays, we rather look for shortcut that can cut our lives short at the end. The Bible encourages us to remain standing firm “come rain and come sun shine. Many believers wants answers to their prayers, but they can’t be patient to follow that “ancient landmark” that has been laid down long before the foundation of the world.
Proverbs 22:28
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
In addition, in some of the churches today, a Pastor or a general overseer is following one path that seems good in their eyes; the congratulations and the ministers are also following another route as well that looks perfect to them. And of course, which the end of that route will only leads them to destruction. The old ways we are asked to be following has now become what we have abounded and which is not supposed to be so at all. Unfortunately, what we are seeking for now are: position, titles, recognitions, influence, money, power and respect which we do not earned. And because of all these aforementioned, many things has gone wrong in the body of Christ today.
Proverbs 14:12
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Finally, Instead of we looking for peace among ourselves, we often seek for those who often offends us. Of a truth, the old ways and the old path are not new to us, we just don’t find them “suitable or convenient” for us to walk in it. Many believers of this generation would rather walk in this “Ai generation,” while others will stick to the old path and the old ways that has been leading them right from the very beginning of their journey. The good news is, our Lord Jesus Christ has always been “the way the truth and the life.” Whoever that keeps following this “old path and the old ways; then you are known to be a wise fellow.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Proverbs 11:30
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
