BE HOSPITABLE IN ALL YOUR DOINGS (PART 2)!

(TEXT : 2 Kings 4:10)
Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither.

FOCUS :

It doesn’t have to be told, you will know when you see someone who is “naturally hospitable.” Character is like a smoke, you can’t hide it anyone! Not everybody have the character of being hospitable. For some they learnt it in school or through spiritual gathering, to some they grow up with it and while for some they are born with it; however, whichever one you are, just make sure that you are hospitable. The woman would have been noticing that often time the man of God comes around for “God assignments” in the neighborhood, and perhaps, no food, no where to rest after a very long walking and standing. And obviously there is no where the man of God could have buy pour water or table water to drink in those days. All these I believe was what this woman put in consideration, that the woman would have say: it is time that I practice or demonstrate the character I have been taught some years ago towards this man of God.

In addition, the woman made chamber, bed, table, stool, and candlestick. All these were been done even without the knowledge of the man God. Only between her and her husband were these decisions made. From this verse alone, all what this woman did for the use of the man of God in her house are five significant items (5). The chamber represent shielding the man of God from sun or rain; the bed given to the man of God it’s a sign of comfort; the table given to the man of God it’s for relaxation; the stool it’s for the convenience for the man of God; and finally the candlestick represent lightning for the man of God. Everything this woman did for the man of God, has significant meaning in the realm of the Spirit. No matter how darkness would cover the entire land, I believe this woman’s house will always shine with light. Because of the candlestick in the chamber of the man of God that is under her roof.

Matthew 10:40-42 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

Finally, Jesus said, “I was naked you didn’t cover me.” Many at time we the believers are still watching Jesus walking around in the public nakedly, yes, some of us might feel pity for Him, but our pity alone isn’t enough; we need to cover Him. And unfortunately, when we are so blind to see the nakedness of the brothers and sisters who are next to us, how then can our eyes be opened to see our Lord Jesus Christ who died nakedly on the Cross for all our sake? The woman didn’t asked Elisha whether or not he will be fine with the settings she was planning to give him in her own house. But her hospitable character told her that, this man of God needs these things, and she provided them for the man of God. Let be hospitable towards one another, we never can tell how far that little hospitality will take us.

Matthew 25:43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
