(TEXT : 2 Kings 4:14)
And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old.
FOCUS :
Every hands of hospitality you offered during the struggle of another person, don’t forget such hands can never carry anything dead what so ever. Because your hands are marked for signs and wonders. Yes, the devil will try all things possible to make sure that helping those who are genuinely in need it’s an error for you to do or not your responsibility to be of help; but don’t allow that to fool you by stopping you from doing what is right in the sight of God and be ready to reaping your good deeds. If the woman will not suggest nothing herself, can Gehazi suggest anything on behalf of the woman for the good tidings she has done for the man of God? Like Sarah of old, the woman was incredulous; she could not believe the good tidings, the man of God prophecies into her life in (verse 16). And thought the prophet was only raising hopes to disappoint her and her husband. But she would find out that the Lord never deceives anyone in.
2 Kings 4:17 And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.
In addition, 2 Kings 4:19-21 And he said unto his father, My head, my head. And he said to a lad, Carry him to his mother. And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died. And she went up, and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door upon him, and went out.
She evidently reasoned that if the Lord through Elisha could give her the child, through Elisha the child could be raised from the dead. Anyone with good heart and with the character of hospitality, will always walk with Faith and not with sight. And anything that comes through Faith, it’s purely inspired by the leading of the Holy Spirit. Because “Faith comes by hearing, and this kind of hearing, are always “good news.” Every child of God is expected to have “good new” at one level or the other; but the good news won’t come to us if we failed to act by FAITH. The woman walked by Faith and not by sight. Let your faith always leading you to be hospitable towards others, and not wickeding people.
2 Corinthians 5:7
(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
Finally, every of our good works it is a “seed” that will germinate greatly even when we do not expected it. For this woman, her hospitality towards the man of God, in return it was a “seed of a child” that her family has been suffering from for many years. Two things played out in the life of this woman: first, she was hospitable towards the “strange man of God” and his servant. And secondly, she had Faith in the God of the man of God, that her dead child can be raised from the dead. The beauty of our lives here on earth is to be as hospitable as much as we can towards one another; and to have FAITH in God who can “all things” through us if we let Him.
