THE LEPERS MOVED MOUNTAIN WITH FAITH (PART 5)!

(TEXT : 2 Kings 7:8)
And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.

FOCUS:

We will be bringing this series to conclusion today; and I believe we have learnt some few things about this four lepers so far? The sun had set the day before on a day of disaster for Samaria, but the sun will now rise on one of the greatest days of blessing in her history. Faith in God would do this thing. In type, Samaria is a picture of the world with its hunger, starvation, pain, and agony. The lepers, as pitiful as they were, are a type of preachers of the Gospel of Good News. The abidance that we have found is a product of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which alone can satisfy the hunger and craving of the starving world. As the lepers, “we must not hold our peace.” We have good news to bring, in fact, the greatest new than man has ever known. “Jesus saves, Jesus heals, Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit, Jesus delivers, and Jesus is coming again.” The lepers would have said: we came, we saw, and we conquered the Syrians.

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

In addition, 2 Kings 7:9 Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.

It is very unfortunate, that the lepers that has been banished from among the people, that are now the one who boldly went to the king to share the “Good News” that the camp of the Syrians are cleared and empty. The lepers risked their lives for foods, and they ended up saving the entire land of Samaria with abundance of foods. If the lepers had not make the move of Faith, the land of Israel would still be in starvation; somebody has to make a move. Even when God told Elisha this:

2 Kings 7:1 Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

Yet, God didn’t tell Elisha how or who He was going to use to bring to pass His prophecy in those days. Meaning God can use anything or anybody, so far, the level of “Faith” He is looking for is found.

Finally, 2 Kings 7:10-14 So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they were. And he called the porters; and they told it to the king’s house within. And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now shew you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we be hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city. And one of his servants answered and said, Let some take, I pray thee, five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed:) and let us send and see. They took therefore two chariot horses; and the king sent after the host of the Syrians, saying, Go and see.

Sometimes “Seeing is believing.” Even the king couldn’t believe the report of the four lepers. Because how can just four lepers went to the camp of our enemies and say their camp are empty of people? Perhaps, this could be a trap, an ambush from the enemies or probably this four lepers are just looking for a way to come living with us in the City again. The lepers didn’t have the privilege to “see first” before they had to take a move; they moved first, before they could found something that their stomach had been starving from.

2 Kings 7:16-18 And the people went out, and spoiled the tents of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD. And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him. And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria:

As we conclude on this series, when God finds those who walks with Him by Faith, He will use them to perform impossible things. For the four lepers, God fed them with more than enough foods because they walked with God “by FAITH and not by SIGHT.” And God used their FAITH to encourage both the king and the people of Samaria to bring His Word of prophecy to pass through the mouth of Elisha (in verse 1).
